Artist’s Interpretation of 'Nurturing'
by Debbie Marie Arambula
To Nurture is to actively participate in assisting someone or thing to survive … to help it grow, enhance its survival. I would say it is probably one of the deepest forms of compassion & love. The simplicity of true love for oneself & all of mankind I believe starts with nurturing… Funny how Nourish and Nurture are so similar.
The soft yet vibrant brown reminds me of Thanksgiving so warm, vibrant, and loving. Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year and for me more then any other Holiday it represents giving & family.
The soft life-giving yellow, inside of the heart is like a mother ’s womb while at the same time representing the spirit, the soul… the birth place of all nurturing, the center of the heart with teal for truth, healing & growth, the birth place of hope for all of mankind.
Whether one believes that he lives one life of many, whether you are a Catholic, Jewish, Black, White, Indian. Arabic, German, Puerto Rican, Italian…… we all start in the womb we all have a right to life. We as spiritual beings of this world have the responsibility to assist survival for the greatest good. Full Story of 'Nurturing'
by Debbie Marie Arambula
A few months ago, I was inspired to create a new piece of art that was warm, soothing & empowering. As an artist, I am inspired by a lot of things: the people I meet, music I listen to, the deep love for my husband, my children, my entire family & friends, the cities I visit… the life experiences that I live. All of these things contribute to my art, but sometimes, the pieces are so spectacularly different from what I normally paint, I don’t always know the depth of their divine purpose & how they will touch the hearts of many…
With each piece I paint, there is a story & the story unfolds in its own time… sometimes months later. When I create, the paint, the brushes, my fingers, the canvas, are all conduits for the whirlwind of emotion I feel in my heart & soul… And so the depth of this piece presents itself …
Yesterday, my husband Steve & I were sitting in my favorite café in SF. It is one of those cafés that makes me feel like I am at “home”, that wonderful feeling somewhere between a home-cooked meal, a rainy day, Thanksgiving & baking cookies; one of those places I like to go to nurture my soul & celebrate life. I shared with Steve how overwhelmed I felt with purpose & aligned to Sandra Kay. She's a wonderful woman from Germany, who had emailed me a few weeks prior to tell me how much she loved my work & that she would love to purchase my art to put on the front cover of a book that she was writing about babies with CHD (Congenital Heart Disease), the #1 killer of babies and the families that endure so much pain in this journey. I was immediately moved by her purpose & we had been emailing each other daily as we instantly felt like long lost sisters rejoining.
While sharing my feelings about this unique, online connection and how lucky we are to have three beautiful, healthy children, and how my heart hurt for all of those families suffering the pain of deep loss or threat of loss, crying while I was sharing these feelings with my hubby, I then said, “But what can I do?” Steve looked up at me and said “Honey, You can create a piece like you did for Hospice of the Valley ("Heart of Compassion" has earned over $14,000.00 for Hospice). We then both looked up at each other and said "NURTURING"!
I had realized that this piece was created for the babies of the world with Congential Heart Desease and dedicated to the families & friends that share in their fight for life! And then my Steve said, “We could make prints of this piece, to be sold to people all over the world, with a portion of the proceeds to go to help CHD."
